Why totals are worked out on our side

Every price and total is worked out on Tapimo's side, not in the diner's phone.

When a diner browses, their phone shows prices for convenience, but the number that actually gets charged is always calculated fresh on our servers at checkout. This protects both you and the diner.

What this means in practice

  • Stale carts are re-checked. If you change a price, mark an item out of stock, or pause a menu type while a diner is mid-order, Tapimo revalidates the cart at checkout. An item that is no longer available cannot be ordered, and the price charged is the current one.
  • The total cannot be tampered with. Because the server recalculates the subtotal, any discounts, loyalty redemption, the service fee and the final total, a diner cannot alter what they are charged from their device.
  • The diner is told. On the cart screen they see "Final total is confirmed at checkout", so the checkout total is never a surprise.

Why it matters to you

You can change prices and availability at any time, confident that orders are always charged correctly against your current menu. There is no window where an old price or a removed item could slip through.
