Use rush control to pause food or drinks

Pause food or drinks when you get slammed, without closing ordering entirely.

When the kitchen or the bar is buried, you can stop new orders for just that side. Pause food and keep drinks flowing, or the other way around. The items you pause drop off the diner menu straight away.

Who can do this

This needs the Manage Venue Settings permission. Venue owners have it automatically.

Pause one side​

  1. Go to Service -> Orders.
  2. Turn off Accepting food orders or Accepting drink orders.
  3. Confirm when asked. Diners cannot order that type until you switch it back on.

Turn it back on​

Switch the same toggle back on. Those items return to the diner menu immediately.

What diners see​

  • Pause food only: "Food ordering is paused. Drinks are still available to order."
  • Pause drinks only: "Drink ordering is paused. Food is still available to order."
  • Pause both: diners cannot place any online orders right now.

How to know it worked​

The toggle shows the paused state, and the matching items disappear from the diner menu at once.

Troubleshooting​

A combo is still orderable after I paused food Rush control pauses food or drink items, but not combos. To pull a combo, turn the combo itself off. See Create a combo.
