Add extras and sauces to a menu item
Set what an item is made from, what diners can remove, and what they can add.
On a menu item you can list its ingredients (and let diners remove some), offer paid extras, and add sauce choices. These all come from your ingredient registry, so set that up first. See Add ingredients and sauces to your registry.
This needs the Manage Menu Items permission. Venue owners have it automatically.
Ingredients and what diners can remove
- Go to Menu -> Menu Editor and open the item.
- Open the Ingredients & Sauces tab.
- Under Ingredients, use Search ingredients... to add the ones the item is made from. Tick Removable for any a diner can ask to leave out.
- Click Save Changes.
Need an ingredient that is not in your registry yet? Click New to create it without leaving the dialog.
Sauces
On the same Ingredients & Sauces tab, under Sauces, use Search sauces... to add sauce options. Mark the standard one as Default (it is free and pre-selected); other sauces apply their default extra price as a surcharge. Diners can then swap.
Paid extras
- Open the Extras tab.
- Use Search extras... to add add-ons (extra cheese, bacon, and so on). Each extra charges the price set on its ingredient.
- Set a Max Qty to cap how many a diner can add, or leave it blank for no limit.
- Click Save Changes.
How to know it worked
When a diner opens the item, they can remove what you marked removable, pick sauces, and add the extras you listed, with prices applied correctly.
