Import your menu with AI

Upload a photo or PDF of your menu and let AI build the items for you.

Instead of typing every item by hand, you can upload a photo or PDF of your menu. Tapimo extracts the items, prices and categories, and you review and fix them before they go live.

Who can do this

This needs the Manage Menu Items permission. Venue owners have it automatically. It uses your plan's AI menu import allowance and your AI persona must be set up. See Set up your AI persona.

Upload your menu​

  1. Go to Menu -> Menu Editor.
  2. Click Import from photo or PDF (or drag a file onto the Got a photo or PDF of your menu? drop zone if your menu is empty).
  3. Pick your file. Accepted types are JPEG, PNG, WebP or PDF, up to 10 MB.

Extraction takes about 10 to 30 seconds. You can close the tab and come back; the results are saved.

Review what it found​

On the Review AI Menu Import screen:

  1. Check each extracted item. Edit the Title, Description, Price and dietary Flags inline to fix anything the AI got wrong.
  2. To leave an item out, untick it in the Keep column.
  3. When it looks right, click Commit to Menu.

The items are added to your live menu.

How to know it worked​

After committing, the screen confirms how many items were added or updated, with a link to the Menu Editor where they now appear.

Troubleshooting​

Extraction failed The screen shows "Extraction failed". Start a new import, ideally with a clearer photo or the original PDF.

I want to throw this import away Click Discard, then confirm. The extracted data and the file are deleted.

The import would not start You may have used up your plan's import allowance for the month, or your plan does not include AI menu import. Check Settings -> Subscription.
