Choose counter or table service

Set how orders reach your diners: they collect from the counter, or you bring it to the table.

This is your venue's default service mode. It decides whether a diner is told their order is ready to collect, or simply waits for staff to deliver it.

  • Table service: staff bring the order to the table. The diner is not notified; you hand it over.
  • Counter collection: the diner gets a "your order is ready" notification on their phone when staff mark the order ready, so they know to come and collect.
Who can do this

This needs the Manage Venue Settings permission. Venue owners have it automatically.

Steps

  1. Go to Operations -> Tables.
  2. In the Defaults section, find Default service mode.
  3. Choose Table service (waiter delivers to table) or Counter collection (diner picks up).
  4. The change saves for the whole venue.

Set it differently for one table

When you add or edit a table, you can set a Service Mode override for just that table. Leave it blank to follow the venue default. See Add your tables.

Change it for many tables at once

On Operations -> Tables, tick the tables you want, then use Set service mode in the toolbar and click Apply. Choose Clear override (use venue default) to remove a per-table override.

How to know it worked

Counter-mode tables send the diner a "your order is ready" notification when an order is marked ready. Table-service tables stay silent.
