Connect a Star CloudPRNT or Epson printer

Give your printer Tapimo's server URL so it prints dockets automatically.

This is the recommended way to connect a printer. A Star CloudPRNT or Epson printer polls Tapimo over Wi-Fi and prints jobs as they arrive, with no PC and no monthly fee. You add the printer in Tapimo first (see Add a printer), then paste its server URL into the device.

Who can do this

This needs the Manage Printers permission, and your plan must include docket printing. The printer must be a Star CloudPRNT model or an Epson with Server Direct Print, on Wi-Fi with internet access.

Steps​

  1. Go to Operations -> Printers and, on the printer, open Connect this printer.
  2. Copy the Server URL shown (use the copy button next to it).
  3. In your printer's own settings (its web interface or the manufacturer's utility), find the CloudPRNT (Star) or Server Direct Print (Epson) setting and paste the URL in.
  4. Save the printer's settings. Within a few seconds it starts polling Tapimo.
Keep the server URL private

Anyone with this URL can read the printer's queued dockets. If it ever leaks, rotate the token. See Rotate a printer's token.

How to know it worked​

Open Connect this printer and click Send test print. A short test docket should appear at the printer within a few seconds.
